Donkey Kong Country Returns Prices
Donkey Kong Country Returns may appear like a 'fun for all the family' sort of game, what with its lively music, lovable characters and beautifully decorated graphics, but don't let that delude you. Retro Studio's Kong title is a very challenging game that will test your platforming skills to the limit.
The game has a very simple plot to it which is basically a bunch of flying tiki's have stolen Donkey Kong's bananas and mesmerised his jungle-living pals. Donkey Kong and his son, Diddy, set off to retrieve them - and that's all there is to it. Gamers will control Donkey Kong who will have to make his way through a series of themed worlds while brawling with a variety of bizarre enemies, gathering bananas and dodging numerous deadly objects. There are also big bosses to scuffle with, minecarts to ride and rocket-fuelled barrels to fly.

For many players, completing the game at all will prove to be challenging. By the time you reach the 5th world, Donkey Kong Country Returns has become a particularly tricky game. There's always an awful lot to deal with on-screen and it's frequently happening at a fast moving pace. Lightning reflexes and accurate control are crucial if you're to have any likelihood of handling all the shifting platforms, exploding barrels, flying missiles and enormous purple bats.
The opening levels are straight forward enough to get though, but the advanced stages of the game can become infuriating. Thankfully, Retro Studios have made things more manageable with the auto-play function. If you lose your life on any level several times, the game gives the option to play through the level for you. It’s an easy way to skip over the present level that’s causing you trouble and move onto a new level.
While you can change between Donkey Kong and Diddy throughout the game in single player, a pal can accompany you for co-op play. Sharing their abilities is often exceptionally helpful enabling Donkey Kong to use Diddy’s hovering power. Sometimes though, you will really do have to work with each other to overcome certain areas of the levels.
Donkey Kong Country Returns combines an ideal balance of old and new features to create what has to be one of the Wii console's best platforming encounters and a title that should test even the most hardened players of platforming style games. The environments are bold, colourful and packed with incidental details; the characters are fun and well animated. There's stacks of variation as well, from jungles to caves and swinging on vines to pirate crabs.
It may have been a long delay for a new Donkey Kong title, but after a few minutes of Donkey Kong Country Returns, you'll realise it was well worth the wait.
